There won’t be a prototype this week. Normally when there is no prototype, I am too ashamed of myself to bother telling people about it on here, but I actually have a reason this week. I got all invested in working on a fully realized game this weekend, so that is what I’ve been doing. I don’t have anything show on it yet, but it is not a big project, so I should find time for a prototype next weekend. Or maybe some more additions to Terraform like I spoke about last week. Not sure yet.
Speaking of working on full projects and making additions to previous prototypes, I also think I may want to revisit Open Heart Surgery and try to form a full game out of it. I really liked the concept I had, and I think it could be a lot of fun with a little TLC. Anyone got an opinion on that?

No update in the last two weeks, as I’ve been busy (read: lazy).
More of a prototype of a prototype this week, this one is in a very nebulous state. As in it has no goal. Who knows, you may find it interesting anyway. I will probably revisit it next week and try to flesh it out a bit more once I’ve had some time to think about it. I really just wanted to get SOMETHING up here this week because of the lull in the last two weeks, and because this idea is obviously not going anywhere if it stays in my head any longer.
Read more about it here.
Also, on a side note: I apologize that the text in those game descriptions looks like crap. If someone can tell me how to put line breaks into a WordPress page, I would appreciate it, although it seems that it isn’t possible from what I have read this morning. Someone please tell me I am wrong.

Instead of a prototype this week, I participated in the 48-hour What Would Molydeux? game jam. The result? This sweet game Open Heart Surgery, which falls under the genre of “Emotional Puzzle Experience”. You get to literally play with people’s emotions! Evoke fear, happiness, sadness, and even love before you steal those emotions away from people to give them to others.
I personally feel like this game/prototype turned out fantastic, and very much in love with the idea. So thanks to Peter Molydeux for the inspirational tweets, Anna Kipnis for starting the What Would Molydeux movement, and Zane Wolfgang Pickett for organizing the local Orlando event. Also thanks to those that contributed on the game in the form of art and sound. You can get their names on the game page, which happens to be…

Ok, I actually made the majority of this game in days gone by, and not in this past week. I didn’t have as much time this week as I would have liked to work on a game, so you get this one instead. If it is any consolation, the quality of this game should be much higher than you’ve seen in the past two weeks.
Melty is a puzzle game with only one level. And that’s not some kind of hook to get you interested, I just only made one level for it. To make it up to you, I left the level editor included, so go ahead and make some levels for your friends.
Game here.

I actually managed to make it through week two. Let’s try four three!
Check the game page for more info about it, and obviously, to play it.
Game here.

I’m (hopefully) going to start making more prototypes. I would write more about it, but I’m doing this at the end of the day and I’m tired.
It is here.

“Whaaaaaa? A new game? But ghostwriter, I thought you were dead?”
I can see how you would think that. But I’m not. And there is a new half-completed game on the website. CHECK. IT. OUT.
“Monster Farmer” is a 6 hour game created by myself and Nick DeWitt.

After a huge lull in anything happening on this site, I have finally posted up my latest finished game: cling. It’s a physics based platformer-esque game that is quite difficult, but quite fun. The majority of the game was done a while ago, but there were a couple snags in getting it up, which is why ghostwriter games has been so quiet.
There are two other games I have in the reserves that are nearing completion, though work has slowed to a crawl because I found a new hobby to be obsessed with. I think that cling’s release however will give me the motivation I needed to start back on those games. One is about ice, and the other is about shipping containers. Both should be interesting.
I’d also like to point out that there is now an official logo for ghostwriter games. It was created by a friend of mine, and it is officially awesome, so everyone should be jealous.

I finally put up a new game! And I made it in a day! I think I’m starting to get the hang of using AS3 vector graphics to make up for my lack of artist ability.
The reason this game took so long is because I’ve been spending most of my time on a new game I’m working on. It’s called ‘cling’, and it is TOTALLY AWESOME. It should hopefully be done and up on the interwebs in a week or two.

I just wanted to say it before anyone else did. As you may have noticed, I placed some small ads and a donate button on the page. If a couple people wanted to, for purely scientific purposes, test out the donation button by giving me a few bucks, I would be grateful. Obviously this is just so that I can make sure the button works, and not because I am asking for money. Obviously.
